Happy Valentine's Day!

Dear Sweet Reader,

We here at the gazette hope your Valentine's Day is filled with love and beauty. This year all the homes in the hollow are dressed with wreaths adorned with hearts, lacy ribbons, and roses.

Yes, love blooms up and down our beloved hollow.

Update

Krissy Caruthers wishes to apologize for the advertised last shipment of strawberries she was to have featured at Gifts for The Discerning Shopper. They were met with mishap. The refrigeration in the delivery truck malfunctioned and no one caught it during the warm spell and all the boxes were lost. Not be be outdone and disappoint her customers, she has brownies decorated and beautifully packaged ready for purchase. Krissy's husband had nothing to say about the decaying beauty of the strawberries after landing in the doghouse with his last remark comparing the berries to his wife. "Lesson well learned," he said.

Hollow Happenings

Bess Parker furnished the library with a beautiful Valentines display and gave a heart warming presentation concerning the large display of heart shaped candy boxes that graced the display cases in the lobby. Bess inherited the boxes that were given to her Grandmother (Elizabeth) by her husband (Jahue) over a span of fifty-two years. The boxes ranged from  smaller plain red cardboard to elaborate velvet covered offerings. Bess said it told her grandparents love story...the lean years and the years of plenty. Each box has a dated card declaring Jahue's deepest sentiments. What a beautiful story of endearing love. Bess also brought a smaller collection along with her presentation to Susie Mae Blumer's beautiful book store where the event was very well received.

Words of Wisdom

Romans 5:8 "God demonstrates His own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

I pray when the wreaths are put away, the candy eaten, and the cards reread we will continue to share our love. Consider ways to reach out to those who God puts upon your hearts. Tuck those love notes in your children's lunch boxes and keep a box of cards to mail at the ready. Check on the elderly.

With much love and a Happy Valentine's Day,

Ruby Lee
