Spring's a Coming

Dear Sweet Reader,

Thistledown Hollow folks, make sure to stop by The Hive and pick up a complementary pot of shamrocks, donated by Liam O'Mally, in honor of his father, Connor O'Mally, who is visiting from Ireland. Be sure to wear green on St. Patty's Day in order to avoid the dreaded pinch!

Missing Bunny Suit

The Easter egg hunt committee has reported the Easter bunny suit is missing. Lawson Greer said he placed the suit in the gazebo closet after having it cleaned last year after the unfortunate incident involving little Timmy Croft and the number of chocolate eggs he consumed while attempting to have his picture made with the bunny.

It was not a pleasant site.

Sweet Readers, if you remember, the pictures made after Timmy's were still lovely without the bunny. We are sure the suit will be returned shortly.

NOTE: Parents, please number the amount of candy consumed before sitting on the bunny's lap.

Percy Atkins is in rehab after the pretty weather last week spurred him on to pull ivy off his spring house. Percy said he stepped on, what he thought was a snake, but was really a piece of water hose left in the flower bed in front of the spring house. Percy said as how he didn't know he could move so fast in order to escape the thought-to-be-snake but his high rate of speed caused him to step in a hole and break his leg. Our hollow folk have been very supported of Percy, but have sent him several small lengths of hose decorated as a snake.

Marcella wants the ladies to know the Spring hairstyles books have arrived. She says her bonus with a cut will be a a set of four bobby pins with Easter themed items attached, such as two different Easter eggs, a bunny,  and an Easter basket. She warns she doesn't think they would work in thinner hair. As an alternative bonus she will offer a small size hair spray with lite hold.

Even though we still have a bit of winter to come, the hollow is greening up. Daffodils, hyacinths, Bradford pear trees, jasmine bushes and so much more loveliness is in bloom. It won't be long before the sound of lawn movers will rev up. I was at the gazebo yesterday checking on things for the Easter egg hunt and left a mowing sign up sheet on the inside door of the gazebo closet. Please pick a week and place your name and telephone number in the appropriate slot. We will leave some clumps of grass to tuck eggs into.

A new and exciting adventure has come to Thistledown Hollow. . . a bicycle club!
The first organizational meeting will be held in the activity room of Ivy On The Rock church on April 11th. Several future members of the bike club proposed everyone attending the meeting bring a healthy snack but were quickly out voted in favor of chocolate donuts. Love the way our hollow folk think!

Sweet Readers, the club is asking for suggestions for a club name, just send them to the gazette address

Speaking of bicycles, Mellie Lee Jamison has a new yellow bike with floral accents that she sports around the hollow. When Mellie Lee is spotted, the hollow residents give her a wide berth. Mellie Lee says her declining eyesight has caused her to slow a mite around corners and approaching trees and mailboxes.

The new bike club hopes she will accept the leadership role of president seeing as they figure there's safety in numbers. The club plans to participate in parades and hope to sport snappy parade attire. Plans also are in the works to have weekday bike rides for the older folks while the younguns are in school and weekend rides for families.

Krissy invites you to come in and place orders for beautiful chocolate Easter eggs, personalized with the intended recipient's name (up to ten letters), written in lovely icing script. She promises to have other wonderful gifts for your choosing.

Words of Wisdom

"But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength; they will run and not be tired; they will walk and not be weary." Isaiah 40:31

Thistledownians,  praying for each of you this new week.

Much love,

Ruby Lee
